over and out!
And my final swimsuit was a success (could be tidier! but it can always be tidier, unless it’s an haute couture atelier, which, as thriving with creative energy as it is, our studio is not).
"... attire has a double function: it is intended to indicate the social standing of the woman... but at the same time it puts feminine narcissism in concrete form" Simone de Beauvoir in The Second Sex. The double function of this swimsuit: provocation and luxury
"... the 'emancipated woman' differentiates herself by an audacity of dress that emphasizes her nature as sexual object..." Simone de Beauvoir in The Second Sex
"The purpose of the fashioons to which she is enslaved is not to reveal her as an independent individual, but rather... offer her as prey to male desires" Simone de Beauvoir
"Dress can be a weapon of conquest, but not a defensive weapon; its art is to create mirages, it presents an imaginary object to the eye" de Beauvoir
"Through adornment... woman allies herself to nature while bringing to nature the need of artifice; for man she becomes flower and gem - and for herself also" Simone de Beauvoir
